UN mission in Libya likely to adapt existing roadmap, says analyst

A Libyan political analyst has offered his assessment of how the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) might proceed under new leadership.

In a press statement on Friday, political analyst Khaled Al-Hijazi said the mission would likely maintain existing peace initiatives while adapting to new challenges.

“The UN mission under Tetteh’s leadership is expected to maintain continuity with previous proposals, though modifications may be necessary as new developments emerge,” Al-Hijazi told journalists.

The success of the mission, he said, would depend on three key factors: support from Libyan parties, international cooperation, and the ability to implement proposed initiatives.
