Zawia Oil begins industrial plant upgrade with German partnership

Zawia Oil Refining Company has launched a development project for its industrial oil blending and packaging plant, marking what the company describes as “a qualitative shift in the local oil industry.”

The upgrade, initiated yesterday in the presence of representatives from German company GTG, will introduce modern technologies to diversify the company’s product portfolio.

The enhanced facility will produce a range of oils including gasoline and diesel engine oils, hydraulic oils, marine oils, and heavy industry oils.

According to company officials, all products will meet local market requirements while adhering to international quality specifications.

The investment reflects the National Oil Corporation’s strategy to strengthen local production capabilities, provide standards-compliant petroleum products, protect Libyan consumers, and enhance the national economy’s competitiveness.

The project demonstrates Libya’s continued efforts to modernize its oil sector infrastructure despite ongoing political challenges in the country.
