Iranian sources allege failed American effort to retrieve pilot

Iranian media have reported that the country’s air defence systems successfully shot down a United States fighter aircraft, followed by what they described as a failed American attempt to recover the pilot.

According to state-affiliated outlets, the aircraft was struck during an aerial engagement, forcing the pilot to eject. In response, U.S. forces reportedly launched a rapid search-and-rescue operation involving Black Hawk helicopters and a C-130 Hercules aircraft in an effort to extract the pilot.

Iranian sources said the mission was unsuccessful, with reports suggesting that Iranian air defences and rapid ground response prevented U.S. forces from completing the operation. Some outlets indicated that the pilot may have already been located within Iranian territory before American teams could reach him.

The incident has been portrayed in Iranian media as a demonstration of the country’s defensive capabilities, particularly its ability to respond to advanced military threats and disrupt complex rescue operations.
