Indian authorities order oil tanker Distya Ameya to hold on its cargo until UN provides instructions
The Indian-flagged oil tanker, Distya Ameya, was ordered by Indian authorities Thursday not ot empty the shipment it has on board anywhere in the world and wait for instructions coming from the United Nations.
Distya Ameya took off from Hariga port in Tobruk, Libya, with a shipment of 650 k oil barrels for the benefit of the Libyan parallel National Oil Corporation based in Benghazi and controlled by Al-Thinni government.
The oil vessel was opposed locally and internationally rendering the shipment as illegal as the UN, US, Libya’s Presidential Council and others all recognized the Tripoli-based NOC as the only body allowed to sell and export Libya’s oil.
