Libya’s Prime Minister appoints himself Defence Minister

Al-Sirraj arrived this afternoon in Sabratha and was received by the commanders and official military leaders of the Operations Rooms, which claimed control of all the city last Friday.

The Libyan Presidential Council’s Head and Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez Al-Sirraj passed on Thursday an order that appoints him himself as the Defence Minister for the GNA.

The Defence Minister Mihdi Al-Barghathi was sacked by Al-Sirraj over a month ago.

Now Al-Sirraj holds multiple position in the fragile government in Tripoli; he is a prime minister, a head of the Presidential Council, chief in command, and the head of the Tripoli crisis committee after the recent clashes.
