Libya repatriates 253 Nigerian nationals in coordination with IOM
About 253 Nigerian illegal immigrants were deported to their country from Tripoli’s Mitiga airport on Tuesday as part of a repatriation programme supervised by the International Organization for Migration (IOM)
The Nigerian nationals arrived at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) cargo terminal aboard a chartered flight and were received by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) officials .
The Nigerians were split into 140 female adults; four female children and four female infants while there were 102 male adults, two male children and one male infant, according to Nigerian news reports.
Moreover, there were two medical cases among the returnees who were evacuated with Ambulance.
Libya has been involved with many programmes with international NGOs to help stem the illegal immigration issues and also to help deport the detained immigrants to their countries of origin.
